I can't say it feels good to be back, but....we're back. We'll see what happens today. I have about a thousand emails to run through and even more catching up to do on the world of sports, but I'll give it my best shot. So, here are a few things you might have missed or have opinions on.
Bulls fire Scott Skiles - I was driving back from Chicago when I heard this on the radio and nearly had to pull over the car. Pretty shocking that the Bulls would fire Skiles so quickly after they helped him turn the franchise around. This is going to put a lot more pressure on not only the players, but GM John Paxson. In the days following the firing, it has come out the Ben Wallace and his agent had a sit down with Paxson to discuss some issues he, and possibly some of the other players, had with Skiles. After years of not letting players hold him hostage, it seems Paxson caved. That's not to say that Skiles was doing that good of a job this season. He was certainly struggling and the players weren't playing as hard as they had in the past, so something had to happen. I don't agree with it, but I'm going to have to deal with it.
By the way, in their first game 'sans Skiles', the Bulls were blown out...once again. Joakim Noah, Aaron Gray, Tyrus Thomas and Thabo Sefolosha, all players who had hoped to see more playing time once Skiles was let go, actually saw less playing time than normal.
Mark Prior signs with San Diego - Former Cubs pitcher Mark Prior signed an incentive laden one year deal with the Padres yesterday. The deal calls for a $1 million base salary and allows him to earn up to $4.5 million (total) with incentives.
The interesting thing, at least to me, during this whole Prior Fiasco was that once he was a free agent other teams were allowed to look at his medical records, and then they all started to drop one by one. I'm going to go ahead and say that I doubt that Prior makes it back to the majors by May and I would be surprised if he makes it back before the All-Star Game. He's probably going to rush himself back because he knows this is probably the last major league contract he'll be able to sign if he doesn't show he can contribute, so if he does come back, look for some more health woes to follow.
NFL Network is Nice - The Patriots are going for only the second perfect record in NFL History this weekend and it looked like, since the game was being broadcast on the NFL Network, that only a few of us would be able to see it. Well, it looks like the NFL Network is feeling some of the holiday spirit as they are now going to simulcast the game on NBC and CBS. You'll have the same crappy announcers, but at least we'll all be able to watch history. Thank you NFL Network, I will never say another bad thing about you.
I Am Legend - TLD and I saw this over the holiday break and wow.....I'm not going to ruin anything for you, but if you are looking for two hours of pure adrenaline rush....this is it. We saw it in an IMAX Theater and it was just plain ridiculous. It's not going to leave you thinking for days on end, but it's one heckuva roller coaster ride. Check it out if you get the chance.

How can you be snow drenched? It rains snow. It is very simple. The snow, unlike normal snow that falls like flaky frozen water, falls like rain and everything gets muddy and nasty. Ahh. Indiana. Love it or go south. ... Continue Reading
