The Super Bowl

610x.jpgI think Kurt Warner is the key to this Super Bowl.  I don't think the Steelers hold that vast of an advantage.  I DO think that this game could get out of hand in the Steelers' favor if the Cardinals turn the ball over.

The Steelers are not that great of an offense.  The Cardinals are not too bad of a defense.  The Cardinals CAN pass block a little, and that might be the most important matchup, the Steelers blitz versus the Cardinal pass blocking (watch Mike Gandy on the outside).  If Warner gets a little time the Cardnials may be able to get a small lead early, which would simplify their defensive gameplan.  The Steelers are in a bit of a bind, I believe.  If they overload the blitz to get to Warner, and they stack Fitz's side, how long does it take Warner to go over to Boldin?  You can take two guys away.  If you are trying to take away the QB and one receiver, what happens when the QB starts dumping off to the other guy, who is really good as well?  I think this game is well worth watching to see what happens there.

Does anybody remember what happened when the Bucs faced Oakland in the Super Bowl?  Gruden was the former offensive mind at Oakland and found himself in Tampa.  He was exceptionally familiar with the makeup and keys of the Oakland offense.  He was so familiar that, despite being an offensive minded coach, he was able to prepare the Tampa D so well that they intercepted the best QB in the league 5 times.  Keep that in mind when the Cardinals blitz the weakside and when Big Ben goes to chuck it Ward, he finds Adrian Wilson sitting in the passing lane.  Big Ben is the most sacked QB in the league.  Big Big does not have an exceptional TD to INT ration, and his 62% completion rate is good but not great.  I don't deny that this Pittsburgh defense is very good, but the Steelers as a whole can outgain opponents and still lose, they have done it several times this year.  This game is just not as easy a pick as a lot of people seem to beleive.  Given that, Bruce Paine willa again go with the underdog, the David, and take the Cardinals 21-17.
