The Next Bulls Coach?

dantoni.jpgIt looks like Mike D'Antoni is out as the Suns head coach after their first round playoff exit so, of course...it's time for me to push him as the Bulls next head coach. Why??? I'm not really sure.

I really don't have a reason for wanting D'Antoni as the next Bulls coach other than feeling like he's the best man for the job. How though? Again, I'm perplexed. His resume shows that he's a winner, albeit one that has never won a championship. He's shown that he come come up with some innovative offensive schemes that gets his players out in the open court but his defensive tactics are.....lacking, at best. He seems to be a pretty good motivator, I suppose. That's all I have right now. I know it doesn't seem like much it but in my gut I feel like I want him as the next Bulls coach. This is one time where I've gone on my feelings instead of facts.

When I think of D'Antoni running the Bulls I think of Kirk Hinrich running the show in the open court, driving to the free throw line where he has the option of dishing it to a wide open Ben Gordon at the 3-pt. line or lofting it to a streaking Tyrus Thomas going in for a dunk. I see Joakim Noah playing with even more reckless abandon and I see Drew Gooden posting up when the Bulls need that one score late in a game. I see Luol Deng becoming an all-around player in the NBA that finally lives up to his skill set and I see Larry Hughes taking over the Leandro Barbosa role of all scoring, no defense.

I know, I know....this is all a pipe dream. Hinrich would probably just throw the ball away and Gordon would turn it over as well. I'm sure the rest of the team would play much like they did this season but a guy can dream can't he??

don't worry.
you can have avery johnson.

I'll be honest with you....we've already had one little guy with a chip on his shoulder and I'm not sure I could handle another one.

hahaha... that's actually pretty funny.
pretty accurate, too.

he'll probably end up in denver (or worse, golden state) and then haunt dallas for the next five years, or so.

i hope both he and d'antoni end up somewhere in the east (can you imagine the young, athletic hawks with d'antoni as their coach?). the west/east imbalance is getting really old, especially since they'll never do a straight 1-16 seeding system.

Oh crap, I wish you wouldn't have brought up D'Antoni to the Hawks. That seems like a pretty tight fit. I forgot that management hated Mike Woodson but they do have some issues with the communication with the management so maybe that job will go to someone with less experience....

I almost wonder if Skiles wishes he had held out longer and made a run at the Mavs job? I know Jason Kidd is there and they hate each other but besides that....

I see Skiles going to the Mavs, D'Antoni to the Raptors, Flip Saunders and Doc Rivers getting axed if they don't make it out the first round, and George Karl is already as good as gone (hello, Phoenix?).

Avery Johnson has his choice between the Knicks (sure to throw big $$ at him) and the Bulls; loser gets Sam Mitchell (your next Bulls coach).

Skiles already signed with the Bucks. i was just saying imagine if he hadn't already done that.

The D'Antoni to the Raptors deal just sounds like it makes too much sense. Doesn't the guy need to get out of his comfort zone a little bit to show that he's more than people think he is?

I'm still hearing from the Indianapolis ESPNRadio affiliate that Mark Jackson is in the lead for the Knicks job.

I think the Bulls would go for Tom Izzo before Sam Mitchell, who has had problems with players in the past.

Van Gundy to the Raptors?

IF the Suns let him go this friday after the meeting expect Colangelo to sweep in and take him to Toronto. They had a great relationship and that's what is lacking in PHX right now. A relationship with management. D'Antoni wants someone in management that just goes out and gets what he wants, quick, long, rangy players. Hello Raptors.

Yeah, it makes all the sense in the world but how often do those things actually end up happening?

from what i keep hearing, the suns are trying to talk him into staying. he wants to resign.

i agree that d'antoni to toronto is too easy. if i were a gambling man, i'd say chicago

van gundy to dallas???? after his years in new york, he should be able to deal with mark cuban.
