The St. Louis Cardinals came out firing on all cylinders for their opening game of the season on Monday. After working up a 5-1 lead against the defending National League Champion Rockies, the weather decided to rain on the day's parade and force a postponement. Gone forever were Pujols' home run and Ankiel and Yadi's RBI, relegated to the what might have been scorecard. Therefore, a scheduled off day on Tuesday turned into opening day part deux for the Cardinals. Only this time they didn't come out and light the field on fire.
The Cardinals had every chance as they were facing old teammate and all around shit pitcher Kip Wells. However, the Cardinals were only able to squeeze one run off of Wells in six innings of work, falling 2-1 to the Rockies. The Cardinals caused their own undoing in the 8th inning as one run scored on a Troy Glaus throwing error and the other scored on a bases loaded walk.
What a difference a day makes eh? Monday's game could have kept the team's momentum going strong from the spring and now they have to start the season with a loss that was their own fault. The Cardinals will attempt to return to form tonight as they face Aaron Cook on the mound.

for some reason I really don't like the Rockies
That's only because you can't spell Tulowitzki.
Wow, there is something that Cubs and Cards fans agree on, afterall. What's next, dogs and cats living together?
