This wasn't exactly the way the Cubs wanted to start this nine game stretch of games against NL Central foes as they lost to the Brewers last night 10-7.
The Cubs fell behind early as Mike Cameron doubled in a run for the Brewers in the first inning and they never looked back. Actually....they kind of did. The Cubs tied up the score at 4 in the the third inning but I think anyone would tell you that the Cubs were less likely to win the game than the Brewers. The Brewers continually pounded the Cubs pitchers throughout the night and came through when they needed it most. The Cubs had their opportunities as Brewers SP Ben Sheets walked seven batters but they couldn't come up with that big, breakthrough hit when they needed it most. All in all, it was a frustrating night against a frustrating opponent.
Ryan Dempster will try to turn things around for the Cubs tonight as he faces off against Dave Bush in a game that will be shown on ESPN.
My original plan today was to work my ass off to get everything caught up by gametime. Then I could sit down with a brew and enjoy the game tonight. Kind of a reward for working hard. But, I'm afraid that the offense will stall just like every other game I've watched this year (except the last ESPN game vs. the Mets) thus leaving me disappointed at the end of the day.
