Sweet Lou Pulling Out All the Stops

piniellaandwife.jpgThe Cubs are 14 games into their Spring schedule and Lou Piniella has already had enough with the lack of production from some of his veteran hitters:

Piniella doesn't like the approach of his hitters, saying: "We're giving away very easy at-bats. … A lot of first- and second-pitch outs. We can talk about, 'Well, we have time.' And we can be talking a week from now, 'We still have time.' Let me see it here a little sooner, and then we can put that to rest."
Seeing as a 'teaching point' of the last two Spring's has been having quality at-bats, this isn't a good sign. I know that some guys view Spring Training as a necessarily evil and just want to get it over with but if you remember when Derrek Lee (hitting .125 this Spring) first came over he started off the season really, really slow and it took him awhile to figure out what he needed to do to prepare for the season. Anyways, it looks like Lou is going to shake up the lineup over the next couple of days:

"If you go to Surprise [for Wednesday's game], you might be surprised," he said.
Piniella batted Kosuke Fukudome third in Tuesday's 6-4 loss to Oakland but plans to move him and ultimately have a set lineup by the start of the season.
"Before it's over with, you'll see [Fukudome] in the No. 5 hole," Piniella said.
My guess (and my everlasting hope) is that Sweet Lou is going to move D-Lee to second in the lineup and follow him up with Aramis Ramirez and Fukudome but it's hard to tell with Sweet Lou, he might have Ryan Theriot hitting cleanup today.
