Here we have another blogger willing to put it all on the line and that's good to see. I've given up on any other bloggers being willing to hand out their brackets....you know, because then it would be in writing and all....so major kudos to the one's who have sent theirs in. If you haven't checked out SML on Stop Mike Lupica, you are missing out. Most think that it's just a Knicks website, but it's so much more. I'm not going to tell you what exactly it is for fear that your mind could quite handle the knowledge, so just make sure you check it out. His bracket gets a little too Big East heavy for my liking, but I'm pretty sure the dude is putting some cash down on these games so maybe he's right. SML's words of wisdom are after the jump....

| Pretty standard stuff for the most part. I think this is the
closest I've ever come to picking 4 #1 seeds, but I had to go against the grain
on one of the them.
The East: I have NC winning this bracket, with the
only "surprise" being that I have #3 Louisville upsetting #2 Tennessee. Does
anyone really believe in Tennessee? Or the SEC for that matter? I have to go
with the Big East team there. The only other upset in this bracket is #9
Arkansas over Indiana (sorry Cobra).
The South: Memphis all the way,
with Texas (#2), Pittsburgh and Stanford all falling in line. Only one "upset"
here: #9 Oregon over #8 Miss. State. That's it - everything else is by the
book.
The West: UCLA edges Duke in what might be a classic game. The
only upset I have in this bracket is #6 Purdue making it to the Sweet 16,
beating Xavier ("overrated mid-major" bias on my part?). Isn't there always a
#6 seed that makes it to the Sweet 16 every year? It's one of the two rules I
utilize in making my picks every year.
The Midwest: The defining bracket
for me - this is the one that will make or break my sheet. I have #2 Georgetown
upsetting the #1 seed (Kansas) in this bracket. I also have #12 Villanova
upsetting #5 Clemson in the first round (the second rule: One #12 seed always
pulls an upset in the first round - #12 seeds are were they place the good
schools that just made the cut from the top conferences; you'll never see a Big
East/ACC team as a #15 or #16 seed), and #6 USC beating #3 Wisconsin to make the
Sweet 16. Betting on Mayo? I may regret that.
But I don't think I'll
regret betting on Roy Hibbert and the Georgetown team. They might flame out
earlier than I have them - I do have them winning the tournament, beating NC and
then Memphis in the finals (73-66 final score) - but I would feel worse if I
didn't ride my hunch, and they went on to win the tournament. So yeah... I've
watched way too much Big East (relative to the rest of college basketball), and
once again have a Big East championship predicted. It worked well in the past
with Syracuse and Connecticut; this year is Georgetown's year. |

I hope STF is getting some street cred for basically posting our predictions on Deadspin, posing as "experts".
Ah, you silly man. The only place where you can earn street cred is...on the street. Deadspin is too mainstream. You have to hit the bricks, get to the ghetto and put your bracket up on Cobra Brigade!
Damn, I wish I had read your entire response before I went down to the actual ghetto to post my picks. On the other hand, I did acquire some lovely crack, so it was sort of a win-win situation.
We've all been enjoying your analysis and picks on Deadspin. You'll always be loved around these parts.
