Indiana Opens Big Ten Tourney Against Minnesota

seniornight.jpgAt a time when I should be really excited about IU's chances in the Big Ten and NCAA Tournaments....I'm left wondering which IU team is going to show up. Will it be the aggressive, hard charging team that runs through opponents or the team that looks confused and immature....I guess we'll find out tonight.

IU opens its Big Ten Tourney slate tonight against Minnesota in a game they should win. Should. IU beat Minnesota twice during the regular season in hard fought games but Minnesota is coming off a tough game against Northwestern on Thursday, so IU should pretty much run them off the floor. Then again, the 9pm start could throw the Hoosiers off their game and they could be bounced in the first round....but I don't see that happening. D.J. White has been too powerful this season and I have to believe that Eric Gordon is going to be wanting to put on a show for all the scouts in attendance.

After IU dismantles Minnesota (see the confidence in that statement?) they should tussle with Purdue on Saturday in a game that should be an instant classic. If there was ever a time for the Hoosiers to circle the wagons and come out motivated....it would be against Purdue. Sure, IU beat Purdue during the regular season, but I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone willing to say that IU is the better team at this point. I expect a hard fought victory for IU as they head into the Big Ten Tourney Championship Game against.....Michigan State. What happens at that point? Who knows. That will be the third game in three days for both teams so anything is bound to happen. Sit back, relax and let's hope that IU plays a lot of basketball this weekend.
