Ask yourself, "Who is the most important part of the Colt's puzzle?" Who is the guy who puts it all together and makes it go? It is Bill Polian, and we just signed him through 2011.

| How huge is this? Its big, real big. Why? Because Indy fans who are enjoying the prolonged success owe everything to him. His pedigree speaks for itself. The chronology sounds even better.
- After back to back 2-14 seasons in Buffalo he is made GM. - He signs Bruce Smith - He signs Jim Kelly (the best QB none of us remember) - He hires Marv Levy (the best game designer none of us remembers) - He drafted Thurman Thomas in the second round (the best all-purpose back none of us remembers) - He starts out as the Panthers GM and from scratch made a Super Bowl team in their second year - He comes into the Colts and gets rid of Jim Harbaugh (who had taken us to the AFC ticle game 2 years previous) - With Mel Kiper claiming that Ryan Leaf's attitude would be an asset in the NFL and the whole world saying that Leaf's physical skills were more than equal to Peyton Manning's polish, Polian took the Aw Shucks Volunteer. That is probably the best high-pressure Draft-day decision ever. - He decided to get rid of Marshal Faulk and passed over Ricky Williams to take Edge James...uh, thanks Bill. - He decided to draft Reggie Wayne when we all thought he was drafting defense. Wayne was not as highly sought after as Santana Moss and Andre Johnson. Nobody outside of south Florida remembered Reg. - Fire Jim Mora and hire Tony Dungy - He took Freeney when EVERYONE said he was too small to play end. For two or three years Freeney was the best end in the league.
Look, this could go on. We could talk about his late round picks like Mathis in the 5th or June in the 6th. We could talk about the unknown free agents that were huge keys to the squad like Saturday, Brock, Rhodes, Mungro and Brackett but the picture should be clear. Look at how teams struggle year after year. It is hard to find success in the NFL. Polian is one of the top two or three executives in the league. He is one of the best talent evaluators and one of the best decision makers. The only knock on Polian that I hear of is that he can be a ass, and a tough competitor. I can let that go, though, because we haven't been caught illegally videotaping other teams and our guys stay out of jail. Kudos to Irsay. Best signing all off-season.

Please....no more pics of Colts cheerleaders. Worst squad in the NFL.
But, still better than looking at Bill Polian's mug!
