I'm Tired of This Guy

fukudome3.jpgSeriously, when is he going to make up his mind? At first it was supposed to be a couple of weeks ago. Then, it was supposed to happen last night. Then it was supposed to happen this morning. Still no news other than the Cubs might offer him $50 million!

I've been over this with you guys enough that you know where I stand on the issue....If the Cubs give him $50 million...I don't know what I'll do. I can only hope that the Padres will come along, since they have like one healthy outfielder, and snatch him away...or maybe the White Sox. I'd love to see him play on the South Side all year long, you know, because I won't be watching any of the games.

In other news, tomorrow is the day we find out what the Cubs are doing with Mark Prior. I know you guys probably had it marked on your calendar but I figured I'd remind you.

In other news you guys probably could care less about....I was able to procure Lost: Season 3 and The Bourne Ultimatum from Best Buy today, I suggest you do the same*. I also saw 'The Golden Compass' over the weekend and while the movie was good, I would recommend you waiting until it comes out on video to watch it.

*Buy these DVD's, not necessarily from Best Buy.

I have to agree with you on Fuku. Jesus he's worse then that girl you dated all through high school who kept you thinking "tonight is the night." The worst part is that when you finally did get to "that night" it just didn't live up to the expectation.

As for Prior, well as much as I love seeing him pitch in a Cubs uniform (2003 would be about the last time he did) he really needs to either sign an incentive deal or get the hell out of town. It is not like he hasn't been paid to sit on his rear the last few seasons and rehab. Trade him to the AL in a deal for Brian Roberts and move on.

I agree. The Cubs have very little idea what they are going to get from the guy. I know they scouted him but he just had elbow surgery in August and there were other questions about him before that. It seems like a lot of money to give to an unknown.

The new rumor is that the Cubs might have to offer 5 years/$65 million

Do you think this high price is strictly coming from the Cubs high demand for a lefty? ...or do they really like him that much? Sounds like they are willing to pay whatever it takes so they can get their lefty in the lineup. I think if he ends up with the team that it is a risky move for this guy as well as the team. I think he could be a love him or hate him. If he plays well, he'll become a favorite but if not he'll become the new Jacque Jones. If the latter happens, it could break this guy's psyche.

The price is coming from what the market is dictating. The Padres have offered one of the top two or three highest paying contracts in team history and everyone is afraid that the White Sox are going to sneak in through the back door on this one.

I can't wait to buy my kid their Cub jersey with Fukadome on the back. I figure that will get her at least two visits to the Principals office. As well as several angry calls home and hopefully I'll get to yell at some school board members.

Has it really come to that gianluca? Yelling at school board members for kicks?
