NBA Preview, Pt. 2...or Something Like That

iverson.jpgThe NBA season is two days old and I'm already prepared for the Bulls to trade their entire team away, for the Pacers to win maybe 30 games this season and for LeBron James to become the next Antoine Walker. Ok, maybe not. The NBA is my favorite sport to watch and my favorite sport to play, even though it's probably the sport I'm the worst at.

I was short on time yesterday so I wasn't able to delve into my feelings on each NBA team heading into the season, so here you go. I'll keep it short and sweet for you.....

raptors.jpgNew Jersey - After the Nets move to Brooklyn and take away all the Knicks fans historians will look back at this team and see that they changed it all.

Boston - So when KG passes it to Ray Allen because he doesn't want to take the game winning shot and Ray Allen passes it to Paul Pierce because he doesn't want to take the game winning shot, who does Paul Pierce pass it to?

Toronto - Not only is the Canadian dollar strong, but so is the Canadian basketball team.

New York - I know SML has a crush on Starbury, but the guy won't lead this team to the playoffs. I am not going to make any Eddy Curry fat jokes this season, so feel free to write your own in the comments section

Philly - Andre Iguadala becomes a star this season, maybe.

Chicago - No Kobe, no shot at the title.

Detroit - No center, no shot at the title.

cleveland.jpgCleveland - No Varajeo, no shot at the title. Actually, this team really needed to 'reload' over the off-season and find some players to complement LeBron. It didn't do that and they will suffer because of it this season.

Milwaukee -
In case you didn't notice, this team has 7-8 good NBA players. They could make some noise if they play defense.

Indiana - They went from a coach who loved to control the ball on offense to a coach who loves to chuck up 3's. This is going to be a bad team.

Orlando - Dwight Howard shoots like 60% from the floor but they can only find him like 10 shots a game? Something isn't adding up there.

Atlanta - This is their year....to be .500

Washington - I don't know why they aren't trying to get Kobe. No big men on the roster.

Charlotte - An intriguing team with some talent, but I think they lack leadership in their organization.

Miami - They have the hottest dance team

spurs.1.jpgSan Antonio - All they do is win titles.

Houston - If Yao isn't a candidate for MVP this season look for them to throw his name into trade talks next off-season.

Dallas - Too many regular season wins last season and not enough playoff victories. Look for them to coast into the playoffs. They'll still come up short.

New Orleans - This is going to be a very exciting team to watch. If they were in the East they'd be a top 4 team.

Memphis -
What are they trying to do with this team?

Denver - If AI and 'Melo get along they could win it all.

Utah - They used to be a slow, plodding fundamentally strong team. Now they have athletes all over the place.

Portland - Next year is their year, but do you think Bulls GM John Paxson is wishing he didn't trade LaMarcus Aldridge?

Seattle - I don't like this team at all. They have Durant but he'll struggle from time to time.

Minnesota - Probably the worst team in the NBA.

Phoenix - This is an odd team. Look at the way they've traded away draft picks and quality players just to stay under the luxury tax. I wish they'd take one season to make a real run at things and see what happens.

LA Lakers -
Phil Jackson is not the right coach for this team.

Golden State - Will not repeat what they did last season.

Sacramento - They need to trade Bibby, Miller and Artest and start over.

LA Clippers - Without Elton Brand they are going to struggle mightily.

"Chicago - No Kobe, no shot at the title."

Or from a different perspective:

Chicago - No Kobe, no ball hogging, team work prevails, team makes conference finals.

I don't disagree with you. The team they have could make it to the Conference Finals, depending on the who they play in the playoffs. I think with Kobe they have a better chance at winning the title because they will have the best player on the floor at almost all times and he won't come to Chicago without Deng being here....That's a tough two-some.

i can't wait for kobe to land in chicago.
and for phil to follow him there.

i don't think kobe's really a ball hog. he just wants to win and genuinely believes the best way to do that is to chuck it 30 times per game. at least.

I agree with Grifter. Kobe seemed to have no problems passing on the USA team this past offseason. True Hoops broke it down yesterday - of all his 4th quarter passes, almost every single one was either immediately passed back to him by his teammates, or ended in a miss shots. The former indicates that even his teammates think the best option is for Kobe to keep shooting. And I bet Phil is pushing for that, too.

Oh, and Curry is so fat, he's almost as big as Skiles' ego.
