Mike Dunleavy and I Disagree on Karma

.1.jpgI'm not sure if any of you guys are following the Pacers this season, but they are off to a decent start (especially for a team playing without its best player). Anyways, they won a pretty close game last night after nearly giving up an 18 point lead:

The Pacers (7-8), who led by 18 early in the game, looked safe when Dunleavy's 3-pointer with a minute left gave them a 106-97 lead. But the Nuggets rallied, and with Indiana leading 111-108 in the final seconds, Dunleavy fouled Smith on a 3-point attempt to put him on the line. Smith hit the first two foul shots, but the third bounced off the rim."It was ridiculous. It wasn't a foul," Dunleavy said. "He kicked me, and you just can't make that call. You have to take a guy out and you can't have a guy flop like that. It all works out and karma comes out on top, and we deserved the win."

Here we go. First of all...Dunleavy is kind of correct because it was a horrendous call (video below) and the Pacers won. What he forgot, or may not have known, is that Reggie Miller actually perfected that move in Indiana and that is why the foul was called in the first place (and why the Pacers haven't won a championship). That skinny dude would go up for a jumper and kick out his legs hoping for a leg call time and time again. I think he even tried to teach it to Rip Hamilton before Hamilton realized he was a better player than Reggie. Reggie never beat the Bulls, so it didn't bother me that much but it sure was annoying. So, next time that happens, blame Reggie for the bad karma.

It's either the leg kick or the pushoff with the arm (ala Jordan, now Kobe)! Only difference is, Jordan was the top player in the game and Reggie was in Indiana.

He did the leg kick every game. It was like his 'go to' move. His push-off was much worse than MJ's....Bulls still won that series.

I'm laughing right now at picturing Reggie's basketball card. On the back it says:

Go to move: Skinny dude leg kick
