It's the time of the year when players start retiring and ending their baseball careers. Yesterday, one of the best the National League Central has ever seen hung up his spikes.
Craig Biggio has been a thorn in the side of the Cubs for his entire career. It didn't matter if he was playing catcher, center field or second base...you could alway count on him giving the Cubs fit. While I didn't always like Biggio because he did that to the Cubs, I always respected the way he played and the way he handled himself like a professional. He retired yesterday after playing two decades with the Astros. He has been the face of their organization and they will sorely miss him on the playing field and off of it
I'm not going to get into the discussion as to whether or not he's a Hall of Famer, but if you want to look at his stats, here they are:
