I just can't bring myself to writing much about the Alfonso Soriano situation today. I feel like a donkey just kicked me in the balls and I'm not really sure how to react. Have you ever seen the home video of the guy getting kicked in the junk by the horse? That's how I feel this morning. So, in lieu of a rambling rant, I leave you with this picture. More later.....
it goes along with what the cubs have been doing the last few months. ever since they realized they weren't going to be hitting too many homers they've been taking a lot of chances on going 1st to 3rd, 2nd to home, etc.
I understand the 'never make the last out at 3rd' line of thought....just wanted to pass along the above info. With two outs he has just about the same chance to score from 2nd as he does from 3rd.

There are several ways to score from third but not from second, balk, wild pitch, passed ball, bobbled grounder...etc...but i agree not the best idea to even try for 3rd on that play.
Baseball Prospectus did a study on the chances of scoring from 2nd/3rd with two outs in an inning a few years ago but I can't find it. The difference was very small.

Just as a matter of course, if a donkey kicks you in the junk you fall down and cry. Simple. fall down and cry. Cough up a little blood, curse, feel like youa re urinating buckshot. there are a lot of variations but they all start with fall downa nd cry.
Sorry to see him hurt, but he shouldn't have been going for third there. Never make the third out at third.

Let the Eric Patterson reign begin.
