Ok, I've had enough of this crap. The first thing I was taught to do when I played baseball was to bunt. It's one of the easiest things to do in the game. You just have to keep your eye on the ball!!! Can anyone on the Cubs lay down a freaking bunt? Especially the pitchers?!?! Do they not realize how important this is? It just cost us a game the other night when Jason Kendall couldn't get a bunt down in the 9th inning against Arizona. Tonight the Cubs had runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs in the 3rd inning. Up to the plate strolls starting pitcher Rich Hill. He has one job.....to get a bunt on the ground. He has three tries to do it. Get the bunt on the ground and you have two runners in scoring position for Alfonso Soriano and the Cubs would be one sacrifice fly away from tying the ballgame at 1. Of course, Hill fails on three attempts....Soriano flies out and Ryan Theriot grounds out to end the inning. So, instead of having one run and possibly more, the Cubs are left with nothing and are still trailing 3-0, now in the 5th inning. Corey Hart has all 3 RBI's....I absolutely hate that guy.
This is horrendous. You absolutely can not let opportunities like this slip away during a pennant race. I've watched Ted Lilly and Hill miss bunts all year long. Check that, I've watched the Cubs pitchers not get the job done at the plate all year long. Whether it's Zambrano trying to hit a homer everytime up or Lilly failing to get down a bunt....it's costing the Cubs runs and it's costing them games.

Not that it makes up for not being able to bunt, but that four-run seventh sure was nice, huh?
oh yeah......very nice
had they lost I would have blamed you for writing that homo tome and jinxing them.
Ok?? I don't even know what that is, but it's nice that you think I have that much influence over the Cubs...
it is hard to bunt actually. but I won't argue with you since you have scientists and such on your side.
Actually...you are wrong boney. Bunting is an easy thing to do if you are taught correctly and practice it from time to time.
Jack I don't ever remember you laying a bunt down?! Maybe you can show us all how its done on Sep. 15 at the oldtimers game.
Whoa, whoa, whoa....I had the running bunt down the first base line down to a science. Also, do you not remember when I was kicked out of practice for refusing to bunt the ball down the third base line? Probably not since it wasn't the first time I was booted.
Seeing as there wasn't much offense, besides you and Cpt. Morgan, behind me in the order I wasn't asked to bunt too often.
I've talked to the Dean before about what it would take to get me at the Alumni Game, so he knows what needs to be done.
The only time I remember you getting the boot was when we refused to steal third in practice....god that was a stupid drill. I also have spoken to the Dean and he said he has wrapped up coach brown to lead the alums so he expects you to be there!
Uh...yeah, I'm passing on that one. Thanks.
umm, sacrifice bunting is a little hard to do when you're facing some high cheese coming at your grill..
but then again...
I usually took my hacks and wasn't asked to bunt because I was silly like that. Just think of it like asking Barry Bonds to bunt over a runner... you wouldn't do that would you?
It's hard for the chunky kids to bend over to get the bat in front of the plate, I'll use that as your excuse....
You don't try to bunt high cheese because....it's high, and a ball.
