I knew this season was already a wash but I have no words to describe this at the moment. Maybe I’ll have something to say later, but I’ll probably still be in shock. Chris Carpenter is going to have Tommy John surgery and is expected to miss 10–12 months. It’s now official, the Cardinals need to plan for 2008. Dr. George Paletta strikes again!
Word is that Paletta is performing the surgery. I don't get this at all. Why not go to Andrews, he's only the best doc in the world for this procedure.

To gianluca: It was (and still is) an ulnar collateral ligament repair to those who have never heard of baseball.
They're actually replacing the medial collateral ligament.
"The club broke a two-day silence on Carpenter's situation by stating that the surgery will involve replacement of the medial collateral ligament, aka Tommy John surgery."
Well, you know, it could have been worse. He could have died. You guys have had that problem in the past.....
Seriously though, that's rough. Let's hope he's able to come back and compete at the same level.
What was the surgery called before Tommy John had it?
that's what you get for having crappy weather and causing the Tigers' pitchers to not be able to throw the ball to first base.
David Eckstein MVP? HA!
Both teams are in the Midwest and have the same weather...If anything it's colder in Detroit, yo
