Another 'Ladies' Entry - Blue Thoughts

Blue Thoughts

For those of you who don't know why I'm doing this:

I usually do a post on cool blogs to read from time to time with links involved. Instead of doing that for the time being I'm going to introduce you to new sites that are written by ladies. Why? Because, believe it or not, a lot of times guys don't read these sites just because they are written by the ladies. I'm hopeful that you go check out these sites as I write about them because they are good sites with a lot of quality content.

I think you need a little more info before I officially begin. The sites I write about are chosen based on the writing and the quality of the content. Nothing more. This isn't a popularity contest and this isn't a contest to see who's the hottest. I want to make that clear. I won't be posting pics of these ladies and I won't be linking to pics of these ladies. The point of this is to bring quality content to more and more people because people should be reading these sites. Next, these aren't presented in any particular order. I have a list, it's not numbered and I'm just going to go down the list.

Who I'm Reading: Blue Thoughts

Who's Writing There: Erin

What She Writes About: The L.A. Dodgers and other various things that pop into her mind.

What I'm Reading There: Pretty much everything Erin writes. She does a recap of all the Dodgers games and from time to time she does a misc.-type post.

Why You Should Check It Out: Remember when I told you about The Extrapolater and how you needed to read him before he hit it big-time? Well, same thing goes here for Erin. She is one of the best writers out there. Even if you aren't a Dodgers fan, you must read her blog.

If you are trying to figure out what the word 'angst' means.....go back to the beginning of the season and check out her work on Juan Pierre. Her Pierre-O-Meter is classic. She reads her 'reader comments' and works to work new ideas into her posts. She also goes to a lot of games and brings back cool pictures from time to time.

What She Doesn't Do:She doesn't quit. Everyday you can count on something new and something good.

Well, this is a very nice thing to see when I stop by your blog.

Thanks Jack. I appreciate it.

jack isn't kidding. This is what a blog should be. I go over and read it because I am a closet dodgers fan (I was a Dodger my first year of little league and they stuck with me. We won our tourney that year and i have pictures). Beyond the excellent breakdowns, Erin is an excellent writer. I don't mean to say that she has spiritual epiphanies every time her digits hit the keys, even though the content is good, but she is perhaps the most structurally sound writer in the network. Pacing is perhaps the most ignored element of the written word in modern use but hers is impeccable, read one of her blogs aloud and then go to some schmoe's page and read his aloud, you will discover what I mean by the number of sentences you have to re-read. Her vocabulary is consistent and accurate, which is important to establishing a relationship with a reader and framing mood. Every aspect of her writing is top notch. Erin is a real pro.

Geez. Color me speechless (or, since this is the written word... textless?).

Really, really nice stuff, Bruce (and, of course, Jack). I only hope I don't go into a slump after all the hype (you know, like Brad Penny after the All-Star game last year).
