KG Gets to Have Fun Again

By Jack Cobra  |  Comments (1) | Hype It Up!  |   Filed Under: Basketball | Jack Cobra Archive

Kevin Garnett For those of you who have only been around these parts since the beginning of baseball season, I do write about the NBA. *a hush falls over the crowd* While I do most of my NBA writing for YAYSports every Friday, there will be times when I write about the NBA and specifically, the Bulls, here. Since it's only Tuesday, and I'm tired of trying to figure out where Eric Gagne is going to end up, I figured I had better take some time to write about the Kevin Garnett to the Celtics trade.

Here is what I think.....I think that this trade is going to allow Kevin Garnett to enjoy basketball again and that's good for all of us that enjoy watching the NBA (all twelve of us). I could break down each player in the trade and how they are going to do with their new teams, but so many things happen before/during the NBA Season that it might not be worth it. Plus, you are all in baseball mode now anyways.

When Kevin Garnett came into the NBA he was the definition of energy. He would fly up and down the court swatting shots, throwing down nasty dunks and screaming at the top of his lungs. He brought something to the NBA that hadn't been seen before. Some were calling it immaturity (since he was drafted out of high school), some were call it 'instant energy', I called it having an insatiable love for the game. Unfortunately, it's been quite a few years since the fans have been able to see that.

With this trade to the Celtics, Garnett is getting a fresh start in a new location. On top of that, he's going to be able to play with two very good players (Ray Allen and Paul Pierce) that should take some of the pressure off of him and allow him to find that 'love' again. I don't think the Celtics are going to be the Eastern Conference Champs since they don't have a real point guard or any bench players, but being able to see KG play with that energy and love again is going to be a sight for sore eyes.
