More to come from Bruce Paine later, but here is the latest .
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. Indiana University Director of Athletics Rick Greenspan has announced that Bill Lynch, who has been the Hoosiers assistant head coach and offensive coordinator since 2005, will assume the title of head coach for the 2007 season as Terry Hoeppner continues his leave of absence.
We aren't sure if this means that Hoeppner's contract will be cut or what. I'm sure as the days pass more and more will be known. It is because of Hoeppner's health, so let's all hope he gets better. He is a great man, first and foremost.
It is a dark day for Hoosier football. I have confidence that this team will be successful, but the program takes a major hit in losing Coach Hep. The worst part of the situation is that every other coach in the Big 10 and in the state will use his health status and the uncertainty of next year's head coach to turn recruits against us. Bringing in players for next year will be a daunting task, making it even more difficult that it already is for our staff.
