I've seen The Baron's Dunk and I've seen Nash-tastic's nose,
but the best thing I've seen in the Second Round of the NBA Playoffs has been
the play of Tim Duncan.
As I sat down Saturday night to watch the Suns/Spurs
match-up, I fully expected the best part to be Steve Nash running around the
San Antonio defense dropping dimes and hitting jumpers. While that did happen
quite a bit, the best part was the dominating performance of Tim Duncan.
Duncan's 33 point, 19 rebound performance including bank
shots, spot up jumpers, drop step lay-in's and even a dunk or two......all while
having Kurt Thomas and Amare Stoudemire drapped over him like a guy trying to
get laid by his date on Prom Night. It was quite amazing to watch as there was
nothing the Suns defenders could do to stop Duncan.
I knew a lot of people had said after the 2006 Season that
Duncan was on the downside of his career as Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili were
stepping up to become offensive forces for the Spurs. Little did I know that
those words, along with the healing of his plantar fascitis, would help
motivate Duncan into having another consistent regular season (20.0 ppg, 10.6
rpb) and an extraordinary 2007 Playoffs (31.6 ppg, 15.3 rpg against the Suns).
Duncan already has three NBA Titles, nine First Team All-NBA selections and two MVP Awards, but he doesn't look to be slowing down in these playoffs as he's been the best player.

Agreed. After round 1, Nash was looking like the MVP over Dirk. But I think before it's all said and done, Duncan will be the most deserving. That's why I've proposed a solution to the MVP problem.
That's a very intriguing solution. Nice work. Seeing as the NBA probably messed up the All-NBA voting, it would be interesting to see how they did with all of that.
Flip Murray's slamarama over Captain Kirk was pretty impressive as well. Though I think Kirk was in position for that call to go the other way as a charge.
